What is digital transformation like in the world of public works?

Entering the era of the global 4.0 industry, which has been increasingly encouraged by the government since 2019, various sectors in the country have begun to prepare themselves to follow these changes. Industry 4.0 itself is closely related to infrastructure preparation, database strengthening, and technology utilization by considering the speed of access, reliability, and data security.

One of the essential steps in facing this industrial era 4.0 is digital transformation. In the world of construction, digital transformation has been carried out in many developed countries, one of which is by implementing BIM (Building Information Modeling).

BIM is a set of technologies, processes, policies that collaborate and integrate into a digital model. In other words, it is translated into a three-dimensional image, where all the elements in the image can have data related to quantity, price and schedule.

On this occasion, PT Ikonsultan Inovatama (IKON), an IT company in collaboration with Oracle, one of the world’s leading software companies, presented a seminar entitled “Digital Transformation 4.0 for Public Works’ Projects which was held at Hotel Ayana Midplaza Jakarta on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.

“Considering PUPR has a huge target from the government, both in terms of budget and implementation, IKON and Oracle want to participate in the Digital Transformation in this area. In the life cycle of public service infrastructure, in addition to planning and construction factors, the maintenance of built public service infrastructure (such as airports, ports, bridges, toll roads, tourist areas, etc.) is an essential factor that needs to be noticed. Integrated data management, including the identification of all infrastructure assets owned, is also a digital transformation initiative that is important for public services,” said Munin Widardjo, President Director of PT Ikonsultan Inovatama.

One Data, One Map, One Reference

Apart from presenting resource persons from IKON and Oracle, this digital transformation seminar also presented the Head of Data and Information Technology Center of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Ir. Nicodemus Daud, M.Si.

In his presentation with the title “The Role of PUPR in Digital Transformation to Increase National Competitiveness Towards a Golden Indonesia 2045” Nicodemus underlined an innovation, namely ‘one data, one map, and one reference’.

This seminar was attended by participants from construction companies, both private and state-owned enterprises, transportation, and of course, those related to public works.

PT Ikonsultan Inovatama is trusted by many companies to carry out digital transformation. Not only private companies but also state-owned enterprises in the construction sector, oil and gas are the clients.
